Gary Lemuel Powell

Gary Lemuel Powell was born to Mr. Lemuel and Mildred Newcombe Powell on August 27, 1957 in Charlottesville, Virginia. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 13, 2013 at Simplicity Lowcountry Cremation and Burial Services, 7475 Peppermill Parkway, Suite E, North Charleston, SC. He is survived by his former wife, Mary G. Powell; three children, Stephanie Diane and her husband Gabriel Chickey, Meredith Marie, and Nicholas Andrew; granddaughter, Lyla Grace Chickey; his mother; sister Elaine Rainey and her husband, Archie; sister Pamela; and nieces Meghan, Erin, and Keisha. He will be missed by many other family members and close friends. Gary loved sports, especially playing golf, cheering on the Washington Redskins, and attending baseball and hockey games. He loved Krispy Kreme doughnuts, watching movies, and sweet tea. His hands were as warm as his heart and he will always be remembered as a kind, gentle man.
