Connie "Granny" L. Mitchum

Connie L. Mitchum (Granny) was born May 16, 1948. She passed away surrounded by her children and grandchildren on June 28, 2019. She left us to be with her husband William Mitchum, her parents Bertford and Bonnie Sims, and her beloved sister Linda Greer. She leaves behind her brother Gene Sims of Goose Creek, and children Felton Carraway (Melinda) of Summerville, Wanda Williams (Jimmy) of North Charleston, Gary Carraway (Faith) of Goose Creek, Cindy Palenkas of Goose Creek, and Kevin Carraway of Hanahan. Throughout her life she was blessed with 14 grandchildren: Angel, Crystal, Wesley, Nicky, Stephen, Gary, Morgan, Justin, Jessica, Cody, Kiya, Kevin, Aaron and Taylor, and 10 great grandchildren: Riley, Hagen, Grace, Hunter, Bradley, Carter, Rylen, Bailey, Charley and Luna. She also was blessed with multiple nieces and nephews that loved her. She enjoyed family get togethers and fishing with her late husband. She was known for her wry sense of humor and witty comebacks. Christmas Eve parties with her and Papa were enjoyed and anticipated by the family. She loved working in the garden with her flowers and plants. She enjoyed listening to country music, painting and crossword puzzles. She was loved and cherished by all and will be greatly missed. A viewing will take place on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. with a funeral service immediately following at Hillcrest Baptist Church (3595 Ashley Phosphate Road, North Charleston, SC 29418). Internment will be at Carolina Memorial Gardens (7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29406) at 4:00 p.m. Arrangements are being handled by Simplicity: Lowcountry Cremation & Burial Services - North Charleston chapel.
