Gloria Lewis Sanders

Gloria L Sanders Heaven received another angel on April 5, 2013. Gloria L Sanders passed away in her home with her loving family around her. She was born on April 5, 1946 to the late Alonzo and the late Gracie Lewis of Harkers Island, North Carolina. She was married to Lyle Sanders of Mountain Grove, Missouri and had two daughters, Ellen Sanders of Goose Creek, South Carolina and Lila Phelps of Summerville, South Carolina. During her life, Gloria moved from state to state while her husband served in the Navy. She loved to travel and enjoyed seeing different places, even though her heart was always home…whether it was in Harkers Island, NC or in Charleston, SC. But after the birth of her grandchildren, she hung her hat in Summerville, SC. Gloria was a loving wife, mother, and friend to everyone she met. She knew no strangers and would give the shirt off her back to help anyone in need. Her life was her family and her family loved her for it. Gloria is survied by her husband Lyle E. Sanders, her two daughters Ellen Sanders and Lila G Phelps, her son-in-law Lee Phelps, four grandchildren Trent Veacock, Deniz Craft, Sibel Craft, and Bailey Phelps, her brother Punchy Lewis, sister-in-law Laura Lewis, sister-in-law Susan Lewis, half-sister Martha Rose, half brother-in-law Hallas Rose, and many loving nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. Services will be held on April 9, 2013 at the Beaufort National Cemetery, 1601 Boundary Street, Beaufort, SC at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking to please donate to a memorial charity, such as American Heart Association or American Cancer Society in loving memory of her.
