Elizabeth A. King
April 4th, 2020
Elizabeth King was born on January 7, 1935 in Charleston, SC to the late Thomas Ancrum and Odessa Smalls. Elizabeth attended school in the Charleston County School System and graduated from Baptist Hill High School in 1952. After graduating she worked at various jobs until being hired at the VA Hospital. She would spend the next 22 years working there as a dietician until retiring in 1990. Elizabeth married Sam King Jr. on May 19th, 1951 and they remained a happily married couple for the next 66 years until his death on July 6, 2017. Elizabeth is survived by her children, Carolyn Smith (James) Sandra King, Darryl King Sr. (Lynn), 1 brother, Charles Ancrum (Joyce), 1 sister-in-law, Anna Ancrum, 1brother-in-law, Richard King (Avis), 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. Elizabeth was known for her love of people, and her warmth, kindness, and generosity. She could make you feel like the only person in a room full of people. A niece said "She was Aunt Liz to all. When speaking with any family or close friend, the first thing said was 'have you seen/spoken to Aunt Liz." In 1970 she started a study of the Bible and shared with everyone she could what she was learning. She symbolized her dedication to Jehovah God in 1973 at the International Convention in Hallandale, Florida. She remained a faithful woman to the day of her passing. She will be greatly missed. A ZOOM MEMORIAL MEETING WILL BE HELD ON SATURDAY, APRIL 11, 2020 AT 1PM.
