Donald Calvin Holmes

Donald Calvin Holmes, Sr., 71, of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away on August 15, 2017 at his home in Goose Creek, South Carolina surrounded by family. Donald was born in Nashville, Tennessee to John Calvin and Mildred Louise Holmes. He married Karen Lee Goetz on January 15, 1972 in Ringold, Georgia. He worked as an electrician at BP/Amoco until his retirement. He was a long standing member of the Masons and Shriners. Donald Calvin Holmes, Sr., was preceded by death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Karen Lee Holmes, children Melodee Holmes Lane (Scott), and Donald Calvin Holmes, Jr. (April); sisters Judy Holmes Rieschick (Pete), Susan Holmes; brother Steve Holmes (Sharon); grandchildren Brittanee Lee Allen (John), Marissa Lynn Lane (Brandon), Hunter Calvin Holmes, Chase Lee Holmes, Joseph Gerald Browder, Michael Anthony Browder, Jr. (Danielle); Michael Tomas Wilcox and Micheala Ann Wilcox; great grandchildren Jehsey Tyler Sings, Jayden Thomas Sings, Colby Allen, Clay Allen, Jackson, Allan, and Aiden Browder. He loved his cousins, nieces and nephews dearly. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 23rd from 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Simplicity: Lowcountry Cremation and Burial Services, Inc. (281 Treeland Drive, Ladson, SC 29456.) Burial will follow at Brookheaven Fellowship (285 Temple Road, Ridgeville, South Carolina.) Pallbearers are Jacob Holmes, Joshua Dean, Scott Buss, Josh Jones, Mike Jones, and Donald Calvin Holmes, Jr. The family would like to specially thank the wonderful neighbors and Hospice nurses who cared so well for our dad. Extra special thanks to April Mattox who was incredible and will be forever cherished.
