Emmett “Gene” Key, Jr passed away on 03.17.2023. Gene was raised in Knoxville, TN but made his home with the love of his life, Cathy, in Summerville SC for the last 42 years. Gene spent a brief time serving in the US Marine Corps but found a passion for IT services. He owned and operated Key Computer Solutions in Summerville serving many clients in and around the Summerville area. Gene loved going on cruises and cheering on the Tennessee Volunteers football team. He was an active member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses South Summerville Congregation. Gene is survived by his five children: Deborah Gordon of Tennessee, Kathleen Long of Tennessee, June Hickman (Charlie) of Maryland, Jason (Carrie) of Ladson, SC and Kelly Stegall (Tobie) of Summerville, SC. Additionally, he is survived by 14 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and one brother, Lloyd Douglas Key (Jeannette) of Arab, AL. Gene was preceded in death by his wife Cathy Key, his parents and 8 brothers and sisters. There will be a memorial service at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses on 3.25.2023 at 2pm. The address is 1308 South Main Street, Summerville SC 29483.
