Doris Merriell Bright, 91, of Saluda entered into rest, June 17, 2013, at Saluda Nursing Center. Born November 17, 1921, in Columbia, SC, Mrs. Bright was a daughter of the late Thaddeous and Hattie (Halford) Gibbons. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Bright Sr., son, Theron Dixon Bright, brother, T.E. Gibbons as well as two half sisters, Virginia Hemmingway and Marian Clamp. Mrs. Bright is survived by four daughters, Carolyn Frazier (Edward), Margaret Summer (George), Joyce Price (Von) and Linda Harper (Steve); three sons, Edward Bright (Virginia), W. Nelson Bright (Phyllis) and William E. Bright, Jr. (Karen); two sisters, Irma Frye and Christine Chitwood; 21 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M., on Thursday, June 20, 2013, in Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington, SC 20972, with Pastor Don Waterhouse officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., on Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at Woodridge Funeral Home, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington, SC 29072. The family would also like to welcome friends and neighbors who wish to visit them at home to please do so. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Harvest Hope Food Bank, 1775 12th Street, Cayce, SC 29033.
