Robert Evan Wheeler, Jr, US Army, retired 83, of Lexington passed away January 3, 2014. Born on November 2, 1930 in Eatonton, GA he was the son of the late Robert Evan Wheeler, Sr. and Mildred Ward Wheeler. Mr. Wheeler served in the US Army in the 101st Airborne Infantry he served during the Berlin Wall Crisis, Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. He was a member of VFW Post 8738 in Lexington. Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife, Lois Wheeler; daughter, Julie Wheeler O'Neal (Shaun) of Gilbert, SC, step-daughter, Angela McLeod (Keith) of Lexington, SC; son, Joey Wheeler (Janolyn) of Lexington, SC; daughter-in-law, Cathy Wheeler Wiggs of Irmo, SC; grandchildren, Robert E. Wheeler, IV, Brittany Wheeler Vasquez, Alisha Maxon, Joseph Cruz Wheeler and Angelica Marre Moses; Adam and Eric Bennett; 6 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his first wife, Betty L. Wheeler and son, Robert E. Wheeler, III. Funeral services with full military honors will be held at 3pm Monday, January 6, 2014 at Woodridge Memorial Park, Mausoleum Chapel. Interment will follow in Woodridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2pm until the hour of service in the Mausoleum chapel. Woodridge Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
