OBITUARY – Kerry D. Davidson – West Columbia – Services for Kerry D. Davidson, 72, of West Columbia, formerly of Gaston, will be private. Woodridge Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the family with arrangements. Kerry Davidson passed away at his home, February 23, 2021. Born in Griffin, GA, he was a son of the late Hoyt Lee Davidson and Billie Jean Cash Casey. Kerry graduated from Lower Richland High School, and attended Midlands Technical College. He worked for Associated Oil Company, and retired from CSX Railroad after 30 years of service. He was an avid bowler, enjoyed camping with his family and riding motorcycles. He loved coaching, guiding and transporting his son’s Special Olympics team. After his retirement, Kerry spent many hours doing what he loved, helping his friend “LH” with clearing and grading land. He will be remembered by many neighbors and friends as the “go-to” for help; no matter how big or small the project, he was always there. Above all else, Kerry loved his family. Kerry is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Joye M. Davidson; children, daughters, Camie Lee Smith (Buddy) of Lugoff, Brandy Dawn Kaiser (Kevin) of Roanoke, VA; son, Donald Carlton Davidson of the home; grandchildren, Emily M. Smith and Kenneth Casey “KC” Smith; sisters, Judith Conklin of Salley and Viki Hoover (Chris) of Lexington. In addition to his parents, Kerry was predeceased by his stepfather, James William Casey, Sr.; brothers, Tommy Lee Davidson, Gary Casey, Jimmy Casey and James “Buddy” Casey, Jr. The family requests no flowers, please. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made payable to The Special Olympics, S/O for Life Adult Team (in memory of Kerry Davidson), PO Box 214, Swansea, SC 29160.
