Eric Melvyn Moody

GILBERT - Eric Melvyn Moody, 35, passed away Sunday, August 9, 2015. Born November 10, 1979 in Columbia, SC, he was the son of Melvyn and Mary Moody of Gilbert, SC. Eric was a graduate of Gilbert High School and Midlands Technical College, where he earned a degree in Business Administration. He was Vice President of Power Systems, Inc. While growing up on Lake Murray, he was active in the Boy Scouts, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was an accomplished private pilot, loved hanging out with friends at Sandy Beach, and pulling for his beloved Gamecocks. Most important to him was family. Eric was a true soft-spoken Southern gentleman, who never met a stranger, and whose smile will be forever missed. He leaves behind to cherish his memory in addition to his parents; sister, Karyn Moody Nummy (Dax); nieces Mary Kathryn Nummy and Legare Nummy of New Orleans, LA; also a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and too many friends to list. Eric was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Marion & Alice Moody, and maternal grandparents Coleman & Locri Hastings. A Celebration of Life service for Eric will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, August 15th, 2015 at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, 4720 Augusta Rd (US #1), Lexington, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Chapin United Methodist Church (Youth Ministry), 415 Lexington Ave, Chapin, SC 29036.
