May 25th, 1956 - November 2nd, 2017
Michael Howard Elkins lost his battle with pancreatic cancer, November 2nd, at age 61. He was surrounded by loving family at his home. Mike is survived by his wife, Elaine Elkins; his first wife, Judy Elkins; parents, Howard and Carol Elkins; daughters, Kelli Still (James) and Michelle Elkins (Nick); step-son, Anthony Porter; sisters, Lydia Shorter (Mike), Amy Elkins and Dawn Elkins; as well as two nieces, two nephews and seven grandchildren. Michael was born May 25, 1956 in Barnwell, SC. After graduating from Manning Christian Academy in 1974, this avid Clemson Tigers fan, ironically, attended the University of South Carolina and earned his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration in 1978. He worked in the banking industry for several years before his latest job with Lowe's. Mike was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. As a talented artist and writer, he loved his music and was excellent at spotting a fat lighter stump. He enjoyed camping and had a special love for nature and animals, including his two hounds. Mike also believed that "shoe goo" could fix anything. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Rock Family Worship Center, 5041 Platt Springs Road, Lexington, SC 29073.
