June 7th, 1958 - December 21st, 2012
Morris Kelly Bond, 54, of St. Matthews, SC passed away December 21, 2012. Mr. Bond was born June 7, 1958, in West Columbia, South Carolina to Morris William (Jim) and Mary Barnes Bond. He attended Camden Military Academy in Camden, South Carolina where he was a member of the Rifle team. He was awarded the Distinguished Expert medal for sharp shooting and received a congratulatory letter from then President Gerald Ford. Mr. Bond attended the Junior Olympics at Camp Perry, Ohio and placed eighth in the nation and first in the state twice for sharp shooting. He continued his education at Nashville Auto-Diesel College graduating as a certified Diesel Mechanic and worked as a diesel mechanic until an injury forced him to retire. He loved camping and was an avid fisherman. Mr. Bond was much loved and will be greatly missed. Surviving in addition to his mother Mary Bond of St. Matthews, SC; sisters, Ina Lightner (Fort) of Columbia, SC, Debbie Bond (Ebener) of Low Fall, SC, and Laura Bond (Griffis) of Irmo, SC; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Morris William (Jim) Bond. Services for Morris Kelly Bond will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 27, 2012 at Virginia Wingard United Methodist Church, 1500 Broad River Rd., Columbia, SC. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Minister?s Discretionary Fund, Virginia Wingard Memorial United Methodist Church, 1500 Broad River Road, Columbia, SC 29210. Arrangements are with Woodridge Memorial Park and Funeral Home, Lexington, SC.
