Exa E. Ross, born July 4, 1918 in Vienna, Louisiana, died April 16, 2012 at her home in Columbia, S.C. She was the seventh of eight children born to Louie and Alice Purgerson. She was preceded in death by her husband J.D. Ross, Jr. She and her husband of over 60 years spent most of their working careers raising cattle in southwest Arkansas. She was a member of Eastern Star and a life loyal member of the Methodist Church where she is currently a member of Main Street Methodist Church in Columbia, S.C. Surviving Exa are her son Robert Ross, and his wife Kathleen of Columbia, grandchildren James Dennis Ross of Frisco, TX, Melanie Ross Mills of Highland Park, TX, Kathleen Alice Ross of Columbia, great-grandchildren Michael Lee Mills, Jr., J.D. Ross, Jr., and Andie Michele Ross. All who knew Exa will remember her for her extraordinary grace and kindness to all. Funeral services will be held in the chapel at Main Street Methodist, 1830 Main Street Columbia, SC 29201 on Friday, April 20 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Arlington Cemetery in Homer, Louisiana, where she will join her mother, her husband, several siblings, and other family members. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Main Street United Methodist Church, Columbia, SC, or Compassionate Care Hospice of Columbia.
