Roy George Bogan, 90, passed away peacefully to meet his Lord and his lifelong sweetheart of 68 years on Wednesday, September 21, 2011. He was predeceased by his wife and sweetheart, Frances S. Bogan. They were happily in love for 68 years. Mr. Bogan served in the U.S. Navy and retired with the Mutual of Omaha. He was a long standing member of First Baptist Church of Columbia. His favorite past times were watching sports, spending time with his family and greeting members of his Sunday school class. He never met a stranger and he always left being your friend. He is survived by his daughter, Ronnie B. Ledlow (Roger) of Raleigh, NC; granddaughters, Teri Keener Mewhorter (Terry) of West Columbia and Sonya Summers of Spartanburg; great-granddaughters, Ashley Seybt, Kayce Seybt and Michaela Mewhorter of West Columbia and Erica Tucker of Raleigh, NC. Also surviving are brothers, Kenneth Bogan of Greenville, Marshall Bogan of Cayce and Ginny B. Bishop of Greenwood. Roy was predeceased by his father, Perrin Britt Bogan and mother, Zenie Swanger Bogan, both of Greer, SC. A graveside service for Mr. Roy G. Bogan will be held on Monday, September 26 at 11 a.m. at Woodridge Memorial Park's Chapel Mausoleum at 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington, SC 29072. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Woodridge Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Columbia.
