Boyd Eric Jones

PELION - Boyd Eric Jones, 85, of Pelion, SC, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, November 9, 2021. Boyd was born September 9, 1936 to William Dorsey Jones, Sr. and Vivian Watford Jones; he was the second of 14 children. Boyd was a kind and gentle man who loved the Lord and his family; he worked hard for more than 40 years at Owen Steel to provide for his family. Boyd was happiest at home tinkering around with an old car, working in his garden, or taking care of his animals. Boyd had a love of nature and growing things, and he planted a huge garden for many years; he was always happy to share the fruits of his labor with family and friends. Boyd was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need; he was the best listener when someone needed to talk, and shared wisdom born of a life well lived. Boyd enjoyed spending time with his family and teasing those he loved; he enjoyed big family dinners and loved to eat. Boyd would heap his plate with food, and tease about getting the biggest plate or the first hot biscuit out of the oven; his plate would always look like it had been washed clean when he finished eating. Boyd loved and spoiled his animals. No stray was ever turned away, and he even had a pet duck for many years who received daily showers with the garden hose. Boyd was a loving grandfather and doted on his grandchildren; he always made sure he had plenty of chicken nuggets and snacks on hand for their visits. Boyd is survived by his children, Frances Johnson, Ricky (Caroline) Jones, Donald Connor, Teresa (David) Connor, Joey Jones, and Nichole Jones; his grandchildren, Amanda (Ken) Johns, Codie Johnson, Trevor Johnson, Zachary Johnson, Justin Jones, Brian Jones, and Hannah Benton; his great-grandchildren, Kayden Johns, Sophia Johns, and Aubree Jones; his brothers and sisters, Aiken (Gail) Jones, Paul Jones, Walker Jones, and Dorsey (Pam) Jones, Louvenia Brown, Nellie Mixon, Andella McRae, Dorothy Brit, Martha Jane (Dale) Yarborough, Rebecca (Bobby) Garrison, and Maryann (Richard) Burkhart as well as many nieces and nephews. Boyd was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Boyce Jones and Baby Boy Jones. A Celebration of Life service for Boyd E. Jones will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, November 11, 2021 at the chapel of Greenhaven Preserve, 1701 Vanboklin Road, Eastover, SC 29044. Burial in Greenhaven Preserve will follow the service. The family will greet friends following the burial in the Reception Hall at Greenhaven Preserve. Woodridge Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you perform a random act of kindness for someone, which is the best way to remember and honor Boyd.
