OBITUARY – West Columbia – A Homegoing and Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Annie Lou King, 83, of West Columbia, will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 8, 2022, at the Mausoleum Chapel of Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington, SC. Rev. Dr. Mark Bredholt will officiate. Interment in Woodridge Memorial Park will follow the service. The family will greet family and friends from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Friday, January 7, 2022, in the Mausoleum Chapel of Woodridge Memorial Park. Mrs. Annie Lou King departed this life on January 1, 2022. Born in West Columbia, SC, she was a daughter of the late David A. Jenkins and Claretta Hingleton Jenkins. Educated in Lexington County schools, Annie Lou was a devoted Christian woman who dedicated her life to rearing her children and taking care of her immediate and extended family. Known as a “fashion diva” by many, she also enjoyed cooking, fishing, and shopping. Annie Lou had a reputation of being direct and outspoken, and made sure that her point was made, whether it was the treatment of others, or her own Christian morality and virtues. She was a loving and supportive sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and cousin who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Annie Lou is survived by her daughters, Annette K. Johnson of Columbia, Lou E. Jones (Tranpus) of West Columbia, Sharon King-Harris of West Columbia; grandchildren, Arsenio Johnson of West Columbia, Alexis King of Columbia, Claretta S. Davis of Columbia, Erin Jones of West Columbia, Samantha Harris of West Columbia; great-grandchildren, Nevaeh Johnson, Nylah Johnson, Amiyah Johnson, Avianna Johnson, Lamar Thompson; daughter-in-law, Alice King of Cayce; brothers, James Jenkins of Lexington, Larry Jenkins (Peggy) of West Columbia, Fred Jenkins (Delores) of West Columbia; sisters, Angeline Riley of West Columbia, Maggie Gleaton of Irmo, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and extended family. Annie Lou was predeceased by her parents; her loving husband of more than 55 years, Samuel O. King, Sr.; son, Samuel O. King, Jr., grandson, Ja’rriel Johnson; brother, Arthur Jenkins, nephew, Nemiah Gleaton; niece, Cathy Gleaton. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Lexington Medical Center, MICU; her grandson, Arsenio Johnson; former son-in-law, Terrence Harris; her niece, Charlene Riley; and her care giver, Alexis Baukman for helping take care of her during her time of illness.
