Florinda Hernandez Rojo

Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, mother-in-law, aunt and friend, Florinda Hernandez Rojo, died peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on June 8, 2024.

Born in Villasdardo, Salamanca, Spain on October 18th, 1924 to Anacleto Hernandez and Esperanza Gonzalez, 1 of 7 children, she later immigrated to the US in 1955 where she met and married her husband of 49 years, Eusebio Rojo, who died on August 8, 2014. They lived in Chevy Chase, Maryland and were parishioners of The Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament.  She was a devout Catholic. She enjoyed reading, writing, cooking, knitting, and spending time with friends and family, whom she adored. She will be remembered for her wit, humor, strength, kindness, sharp memory, and captivating storytelling abilities.

Her memory will be kept alive by her daughter, Margarita Rojo Mendez, son-in-law, Luis Mendez and her adored granddaughter, Carolina Mendez, her sister, Mari Cruz Hernandez (Rafael). As well as aunt to many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sisters and brothers, Maria Hernandez (Hector); Jose Hernandez (Tina); Ana Maria Hernandez (Manuel); Serafina Hernandez; Gabriel Hernandez (Maria Asuncion).

Funeral Services will be held at the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament on Friday, June 14th at 11:00 am.  Burial will be held privately.
