Robert Wayne Jenks, Bob, of Franktown, Colorado, entered heaven on January 26, 2016. Bob passed away at Porter Adventist Hospital following a heart attack on January 23, 2016. This was in spite of the heroic efforts of the medical teams of Parker and Porter Adventist Hospitals. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, February 3, from 5:30 to 8:00pm at Ponderosa Valley Funeral Services located at 10470 S. Progress Way in Parker, Colorado. A Life Celebration will be held on Thursday, February 4, at 1:00pm at the United Methodist Church at 11805 S. Pine Drive in Parker, Colorado, with a graveside service immediately following at the historic Franktown Cemetery located at the intersection of Colorado Highway 86 and Colorado Highway 83 in Franktown, Colorado. The afternoon will conclude with a reception for family and friends at the Franktown Fire Protection District Station 181, also located in Franktown, Colorado. Please note, if you are planning to attend the graveside service, wear shoes that are adequate for dirt, mud, snow, etc. Bob is survived by his loving wife, Hyla Tryon Jenks, and his children: his daughter, Jennifer Nancy Rheaume, and her husband, Dave; his son, Nathan Eugene Myers, and his wife Kristi; his son, Darrel Hyle Myers; and his son, Richard Wayne Jenks, and fiancée, Noelle Arbon. He loved to spoil his eight grandchildren: Amanda & Megan Rheaume; Wyatt Myers; Leslie Jo, Shania Hyla, & Aiden Myers; and Andrew & Christopher Jenks. Bob is also survived by his sisters: Carol Wilson and her husband, Sam; and Connie Sanders and her husband, Dixon. Bob was born in Lynchburg, Virginia, on April 22, 1946, to Carroll and Sue Jenks. He grew up in Lynchburg where he was an avid baseball player in school, as well as playing basketball and football. Bob also enjoyed spending time on the James River, including water skiing and boating. When Smith Mountain Reservoir was constructed in the early 1960s, the lake provided a new avenue for fun and relaxation. In the early 1970s, Bob moved his young family to Colorado to pursue new business opportunities. Upon moving to Colorado, Bob’s love for the outdoors and travel grew with the new opportunities in the great Rocky Mountains. This included his love for camping. As the story goes, in 1976 Bob fell in love with a beautiful camper and purchased it to be able to take his family to the mountains but did not purchase the truck until a later date. During this period, Bob loved to travel and made many trips in his truck and camper. In 1984, Bob moved from his Arvada home down to Franktown in the young sub-division called Deerfield, which is on the north end of the Black Forest. Bob was proud of his new home and the beauty that surrounded him. His land was covered in mostly young pine trees. Living in Franktown provided an escape from his successful career and afforded him the ability to pursue other passions, such as working with his hands, gardening, and mowing his beloved land. In the early 1990s, Bob met Hyla and their love blossomed. In addition to opening his heart to Hyla, Bob also opened his heart to Jenna, Darrel, and Nathan, as well as the rest of Hyla’s family. Bob also introduced the family to the famous “Bob Dog,” which consisted of a frozen hot dog in a fresh bun with all the fixins’ then microwaved on high for three minutes. Once removed, the “Bob Dog” had to be consumed in the first 60 seconds or the bun would turn into a rock. On June 24, 1995, Bob and Hyla wed in Pueblo, Colorado. The 1990s were a time of new adventures with a couple cross-country road trips in the truck and camper to Virginia. Bob’s passion for gardening blossomed during this time but so did the appetites of the deer in Deerfield. This resulted in crops of $50 tomatoes once the final costs were tallied. (And the final costs were tallied—and believe us they were tallied by Bob!) The new millennium brought new adventures, including new job opportunities and additional grandchildren. Bob was always a very astute and honest business man. He believed that things were to be done right and there was no detail too small to neglect. He was often a mentor, both in his career as well as to those closest to him. Having grandchildren within close proximity was a true joy for Bob. He was always proud of all his children and grandchildren but having his two granddaughters, Megan and Amanda, close always brought a smile to his face. A few short days before his passing, he attended an orchestra concert to support his granddaughter, Megan Rheaume. In addition to embarrassing Megan by yelling, “Yea, Meggie!,” at the end, he had the rest of us in stitches in the bleachers as he enjoyed the concert and egged Megan’s sister on by encouraging Amanda to interfere with Hyla’s attempts to record the concert. In the past ten years, Bob enjoyed spending time with family and working his “little piece of heaven” in Deerfield. By now, the pine trees that were once toothpicks for porcupines had grown into a beautiful forest. He had a passion for tools, from wood planes to tractors. Each year on the 4th of July, Bob took great pride in decorating his tractor and pulling his entire family in the Deerfield tractor parade. Bob also raised a wonderful family of successful children. He was always there to provide meaningful guidance to even the toughest situations, both at work and home. He was a meticulous man in so many ways. Everything had a specific spot, at least once it got filed. One could say that Bob did not keep a typical work schedule. He may have been working a standard schedule on Hawaii Time because he didn’t like mornings so he shifted his day and worked, generally, from 11:00 in the morning until late at night. Bob was an extremely hard working, straight talking southern gentleman but he had recently mentioned that he now considered himself a “Coloradoan, Y’all.” Bob planned to retire in April from Aqua Hot Heating Systems. He was their Chief Financial Officer, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Because he loved both his home and his work, Bob drove 144 miles every day. After the death of the company’s founder, Hap, Bob worked extra hours to ensure the success of the company. He was bound and determined that the company would not fail. He put in the same devotion and commitment to the new owner, Paul Harter. Bob will be missed by the management team, his accounting staff (Lillian Montoya and Debra Andrews), and the entire work force. Bob loved their beautiful cat, Dani. He loved to take her for walks on a leash, tease her, and race her up the stairs every night to bed. Bob cherished all the special people in his life, including Dutch Myers, his nieces and nephews, his Deerfield friends and neighbors, especially Rich & Diana Love and Lash & Sheri Russell, and his Brookville classmates. While the family was holding his hands praying, Bob left this world and entered heaven on January 26, 2016. Though he is no longer with us, his mannerisms, traits, values, and morals live on in his family and friends. We will always miss him.
