James Nicholas Lhotak June 28, 1937 – December 04, 2020 On Friday, December 04, 2020 James N Lhotak, loving father of his three children and grandfather to three grandchildren, passed away at the age of 83. Jim was born on June 28, 1937 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Lumir and Angeline (Ries) Lhotak. Went to school at Tekamah High School where he was the president of the Future Farmers of America. He used his talent drawing pictures for the yearbook and newspaper. After graduation, enlisted in the United States Coast Guard. While enlisted, he went to machinist school. He was station in east coast for two years, he met Carol Luhrs, married September 18, 1958. After two years stationed in Orange County, CA he was Honorable Discharge 1961. Moved to Arvada Colorado worked with his father Lumir repairing lawn mowers. 1963 stated working at the Rio Grande Rail Road a machinist. 1964 moved to Wheat Ridge, CO where he built a mini farm with horses, chickens, rabbits and a huge garden for his growing family. 1983 Moved to Brighton, CO to continue his passion of buying, fixing and selling his goods (Toys) in different flea markets. Retired from the Rio Grande in 1998. Along with his passions of taking lots of pictures, joining a photo club. Traveling to different country with his partner Lois Dow to China, Greece, Peru and Africa. They love to go jeeping in Utah and Colorado and Trips in the RV. Lovingly remember by his three children and their spouses Debbie Hastings and (David Blake), Daniel Lhotak, Donna Lhotak-Crippen and (Tracy Crippen). Six grandchildren Eric Hastings, Paul Hastings, Samantha Lhotak, Natalia Deras, Katrina Deras and Isabella Deras. Partner Lois Dow along with her three daughters, granddaughter, and great granddaughters. Ex-wife Carol Lhotak. By his only surving Sibley Janet Cozza and Brother-in-law Lou and his nieces and nephews and many friends who became family. Celebration of Jim’s life will be held later this year when it safer for everyone to travel and gather. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim’s name may be made to Seasons Hospice Foundation, 8537 Solution Center, Chicago, IL 60677
