All-States Cremation - Wheat Ridge
Penny Ewald
February 27th, 1949 - July 22nd, 2017
Penny Ewald, 68, of Littleton, Colorado passed away July 22, 2017 at Littleton Adventist Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Lansing, Michigan, the daughter of Charles and Joanne Kraft. She was educated in California public schools and later attended UC Berkeley where she received her MS in Bio-Statistics. In her professional life she worked for and retired from Lockheed as a System Administrator after nearly 30 years. In 2000 her career led her to the Denver/Littleton area where she enjoyed a more abundant life. Growing up in California she enjoyed speed skating, bicycling, hiking and camping. As she raised her sons, she became a Cub Scout leader and, for almost 20 years, was a Chief Little League umpire. After moving to Colorado her activities and interests expanded to include volunteering at South Platte Park, playing viola with the Arapahoe Community College String Orchestra, playing mandola with the Denver Mandolin Orchestra, spinning yarn, weaving, sewing and knitting. She made annual visits to see family and into her sixties she continued to trek solo throughout the United States and Canada on her motorcycle. Penny is survived by her son, Raymond, and his wife, Shannon, of Medford, OR, and her son, Thomas, and his beloved Debra of Albuquerque, NM. She also leaves behind a brother, Harry Kraft, and his wife, Cathy, of McArthur, CA, and three sisters: Kathleen Kraft of Bodega Bay, CA; Rebecca Lord of Black Hills, SD; and Jonna Dushey and her husband, Dan, of John Day, OR. She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and dear friends. In lieu of flowers, go out on a hike, enjoy a glass of wine with your friends and loved ones, and always remember to “Practice, Practice, Practice!” Memorial gifts in Penny’s memory can be made to: South Platte Park Carson Nature Center, 3000 W Carson Drive, Littleton, CO 80120. *Please convey that gifts are “For the sole use of South Platte Park” Or: Arapahoe Community College, 5900 S Santa Fe Drive Campus Box 43, Littleton, CO 80120 *Please convey that gifts are “For the sole use of the String Orchestra”
