Betty Eileen Jackson
November 6th, 1937 - February 29th, 2024
On February 29, 2024, Betty Eileen Jackson, a cherished wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother, transitioned peacefully in her sleep. Born to Richard F. Hefty and Mary Arrants Hefty on November 6, 1937, in Brush Colorado, Morgan County, Betty's life was a testament to the power of love, family, and community.
Betty's love story with Doyle Duane Jackson was one for the ages. Their bond was so profound that it inspired all who knew them to seek a love as deep and enduring. On April 18, 1953, in Junction City, Kansas, they embarked on a marital journey that would span over 52 years, blessing them with four beautiful children: Duane, Rocklan, Karen, and Mark. Betty's heart was so expansive that her and Doyle also lovingly raised their son Rock’s triplet children, Daniel, Elizabeth, and Susan.
Betty's life was a testament to her boundless energy and love for her family. She was an active member of the Eastern Star, served as Mother Advisor of Rainbow Girls, chaperoned DeMolay and was deeply involved in her son Duane's Special Olympics. Her dedication to her family was reflected in her active participation in PTA and her efforts to provide enriching experiences for her grandchildren. Betty was always present and engaged in the lives of her children and grandchildren. She was a second mom to many, her home a sanctuary of love and laughter. Her love for family history saw her and Doyle spend countless hours researching their genealogy, a hobby that complemented their love for travel.
Betty was an enthusiastic Bronco’s fan and a gracious host, ensuring any family visit was memorable, often marked by card games full of laughter and light-hearted teasing. Everyone who knew her would state if they could ever pick a Mom she would be the one. Everyone who knew Betty was touched by her kindness and compassion and came away a much better person. She truly touched everyone’s life.
With her passing, we are reminded that the best are often taken from us too soon. Yet, we take comfort in knowing that heaven is now graced with her presence, and she is reunited with Doyle. We mourn her loss but celebrate her life, a life that was a beacon of love, kindness, and community spirit. For all that had the pleasure of knowing her we are all feeling the loss of Saint Betty.
Betty is survived by her children, Duane Jackson, Karen (Gary) Epperson, Mark (Paula) Jackson, her grandchildren, Daniel Jackson, Susan (Todd) Heuman, Elizabeth (Bob) Hampton, Chad Epperson, Kristopher (Taylor) Jackson, Kayla (Caleb) Goedeken, her siblings, Phillip (Sue) Hefty, Richard Hefty, Robert (Sharon) Hefty, Rebecca Stice and numerous great grand children, great-great grand children, nieces, and nephews.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband Doyle D Jackson, her son Rocklan K Jackson and a grandson, Casey Plagman.
