Marvin Kenneth Barney

Kenneth Barney went to be with the Lord on Nov 8,2015. Kenneth was born July 9th to Elmer and Wyonda Barney near Buffalo KS. Their family moved to Keenesburg CO when Kenneth was 10, where Kenneth Graduated from High School in 1942. Kenneth married his wife Edwyne Luhrs in Fort Morgan Colorado in 1946 . Kenneth owned and operated Barney's Conoco in Keenesburg for 40 years. Kenneth appreciated and enjoyed his years in business and enjoyed the many friends and customers that were part of running a small business in their community. Kenneth was a member of the Keenesburg United Methodist Church, the Keenesburg Volunteer Fire Dept and the Keenesburg Chamber of Commerce. Kenneth and his wife Edwyne enjoyed their retirement years of liesure and travel. Kenneth suffered from severe Alzheimer's during his last 3 years and passed away at Gray Cara. His family apprectiated the kind staff of Gray Cara who helped make his life as peaceful as possible during his last years. During his retirement years Kenneth also wrote a weekly column in the Keene Valley Sun and was a very positive and helpful member of his community. Kenneth is survived by his wife,Edwyne(Eddie), and his three sons Gerald of Kirkland WA, Dean of Asheboro NC, Ted of Grapevine TX and his daughter-in-law Janice Barney of Chicago and 12 grand children. He was proceed in death by his parents, a son Steve Barney, sister Leota Rock, and his brother Leonard Barney. A memorial Service will be held at the Keenesburg United Methodist Church, on Thursday Nov 12th at 10:30 AM. A lunch will be served after the service. Any memorial gifts may be made to the Keenesburg United Methodist church or the Keene Family Clinic in Keenesburg CO
