Doris Jewel Stroh
November 22nd, 1922 - March 27th, 2016
Doris Stroh, 93, of Johnstown passed away on Easter Sunday, March 27, 2016 in Broomfield with family members at her side. The heavenly choir gained a lovely voice and quite a character! She was born November 22, 1922 in LaSalle, CO to Ezekiel Clark and Velzora Ona (Mitchell) Case. She graduated Milliken High School in 1940 and married Charles Stroh on August 31, 1941 at the last minutes of their marriage license. Doris and Charles moved to a farm North of Milliken where they raised their children and loved their grand children for over 50 years. She spent that time helping on the farm, was a homemaker and later worked with Dr. Morrisey at the Johnstown dentist office. Doris directed the Milliken Presbyterian Church and Johnstown United Methodist Church choirs for over half a century. Music was always a big part of her life and over the years, hundreds of families invited her into their lives at some of their most intimate times, including singing at weddings and funerals. She was always active in organizing school, church and community functions, including the Milliken School reunions for many years. Doris also enjoyed many travels with Charles, horse shows with her son John, and numerous adventures flying and sailing with her son David. Doris was a lifelong member of PEO Chapter FG in Johnstown, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, one of the longest time members of the Milliken Presbyterian Church, a former member of Estrellita, Rebecca’s and Seniors in Johnstown and Milliken. Survivors include her son, David (Stephanie) Stroh; grandchildren, Aaron (Deb) Bergman, Tanya Caruso, Allison Stroh (Erica Chenoweth), Elizabeth (Adam) Tischner, Tyler (Stephanie) Stroh, Justin (Blair) Stroh, Stacy (Clint) Liniger, Charles Stroh, Aaron and Daniel Whitaker; great-grandchildren, Jaims Chastain, Sharayah and Myranda Bergman, Sean Kobzina, Anthony Caruso, Juniper Tischner, Warren Stroh, Madison Stroh, Makayla Stroh, Cade and Danica Liniger and a great, great granddaughter, Klaire Chastain as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles in 1990; daughter, Judy Bergman; son, John; siblings Audrey Kahm, Ivan Case and Inez Call. Viewing will be held from 5-7 p.m. Monday, April 4, 2016 at the Adamson Chapel. Service 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 5 at the Milliken Presbyterian Church, 201 S. Olive Avenue. A reception will follow the service. Interment 1:00 p.m. at the Johnstown Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to the ‘Children’s Diabetes Foundation’ in care of Adamson Funeral & Cremation Service, 2000 47th Ave., Greeley, CO 80634. Condolences may be left at adamsonchapels.com.
