Thomas Francis Connolly
March 19th, 1923 - April 10th, 2016
Thomas "Tom” Connolly, 93, of Greeley, CO passed away April 10, 2016 in Greeley. Tom graduated from Southside High School in Elmira, NY in 1942. He left from there to go into the Army Air Corps. He served during WWII in the South Pacific. He was a flight engineer on B17s. After his discharge in 1946, he came back to Elmira and met his future wife Irene Bush. They married on August 28, 1949. They moved to Cincinnati, OH where he earned his BS in Mechanical Engineering. His first job was with the tool company Ingersoll Rand. He moved on to several companies where he worked on design and initial installation of nuclear power plants from coast to coast. Tom had many hobbies. He loved camping with his family, bike riding, wood working, playing pool square dancing and traveling, especially in their RV after retirement. Along the way he also worked with Little League and Boy Scouts, was a member of the Lyons Club and the Milliken Senior Center. As an engineer, Tom became a Mr. Fix It. If you needed something repaired, he would find a way. Some cases he had to be a little more creative than others. Tom was a bit of jokester too, he love joking and kidding with family and friends. Tom is survived by his wife, three daughters; Kathi (Lee) Polk, Barbara (Joe Gabaldon) Connolly, both of Greeley; Virginia Connolly of Playa del Rey, CA; plus many of Irene’s family in New York, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great/great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, an infant twin brother, two brothers, one sister and his only son Raymond Connolly. Memorial Service 11:00a.m. Thursday, April 14, 2016, at Adamson Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to "Wounded Warrior Project” or” Boys Scouts of America” in care of Adamson Funeral & Cremation, 2000 47th Avenue, Greeley, CO 80634
