Jose "Smoking Joe" Santos Rodriquez

Jose "Smoking Joe” Rodriquez, 75 of Greeley, CO passed away on May 3, 2016 at Hospice of Northern Colorado. He was born on November 1, 1940, in Poteet, TX, to Juan and Eusevia (Chapa) Rodriquez. Joe grew up in Texas, Michigan, and Colorado. He attended Severance Elementary and graduated from the 8th grade there. On December 26, 1960, in Fort Collins, CO, Joe married Benita Medellin. Joe was a truck driver for Kodak. Joe love dancing, Mexican polka music, and driving his trucks. He also enjoyed watching the Broncos and Rockies play. Joe was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Greeley. Joe is survived by his son, Tony (Lisa) Medellin of Fort Collins; daughters, Joann Castaneda of Greeley, Veronica (Henry) Hinojosa of Greeley, Tina Medellin of Austin, TX, and Rebecca Rodriquez of Austin, TX; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and siblings, Virginia Morado of Eaton, CO, Dolores (Conrad) Manzanarez of Greeley, Sam Rodriquez of Loveland, CO, Joe A. (Linda) Rodriquez of Greeley, Mary B. Rodriquez of Greeley, and Luis A. Rodriquez of Greeley. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Benita; daughter, Frances Thompson; brother, George Rodriquez; and sisters, Margaret Luna, and Dominga Rodriquez. Viewing will be on Friday, May 6, 2016 from 5-7 p.m. at Adamson Chapel, 2000 47th Avenue, Greeley, CO 80634. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2016 followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. both at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, 1250 7th Street, Windsor, CO 80550. Inurnment will be at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 9, 2016 at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made in Joe’s name to "Jose Rodriquez Memorial Fund” in care of Adamson Funeral & Cremation Services, 2000 47th Avenue, Greeley, CO 80634.
