Richard Newland

Richard Dee Newland, 45, of LaSalle passed away on Friday, May 6, 2016 in his home after an 18 month battle with Glioblastoma. He was surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 13, 1970 in Greeley to Glen R. "Dick” and Patty J. (Benner) Newland and raised in LaSalle, where he spent his childhood, graduating from Valley High School in 1988. Richard was a member of the Pipefitters Union Local #208, and worked as a welder and pipefitter in the construction industry. He enjoyed playing many sports throughout his lifetime, including baseball, football, wrestling, bowling and golf. Richie enjoyed watching football with his daughter, as they both are avid Broncos fans. Richard’s passion was elk hunting. He was a member of the NRA, and for 32 years actively hunted with his father, family and many cherished friends. His final hunting expedition was in November 2015. Survivors include his best friend and wife, Carrie of LaSalle; daughter, Ariya Rose Newland of LaSalle; stepchildren, Colton Hinman of Littleton, MacKenzie Hinman of LaSalle; parents, G.R. "Dick” and Patty Newland of LaSalle; siblings, Natalie DiGirolamo of Bronx, NY, Kandy (Bill) Newland-Platt of LaSalle, Chad (Lisa) Newland of Loveland; nieces and nephew, Allie and Tommy Oldfield, Brittani and Roxanne DiGirolamo, Zion Counter-Staton and Bella Newland. He was blessed with many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Helen & Harry Benner, Lemmy & Marie Custer and Mike Newland. Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, May 12 at the Adamson Chapel with a reception to follow in the Adamson Reception Center.
