Joseph B. Clithero
January 18th, 1931 - June 7th, 2016
Joseph Benton Clithero, 85, 0f Greeley, CO returned home with his heavenly Father on June 7, 2016. Joe was born January 18, 1931 in Paola, KS to Joseph D. and Ruby A. (Litten) Clithero. Joe grew up in Kansas and attended school there. On August 3, 1952 he married his soul mate, Betty L. Larson in Harting, NE. On October 9, 1959 they were blessed with their son David and on June 2, 1963 the birth of their daughter, Mary. Joe served in the United States Air Force from 1953-1968. After being honorably discharged he worked as District Manager for GMC Chevrolet Motors Division for ten years. Joe and his family moved to Colorado where over the years he and his wife ran Clithero Marketing Service and Bette’s Fabric Boutique. Joe was Professor of Marketing at UNC from 1968-1988. He received his Masters of Science Degree in Marketing and Finance and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Science from Colorado State University. He worked for McGladrey and Pullen as a Regional Marketing Consultant and was the Director of Sales and Marketing for C Lazy V Guest Ranch. From 1991 to 2003 he owned B and J Creative Photography. He loved hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. Joe was fond of the Denver Broncos and liked to do leather work. Joe was a chair member for Boy Scouts of America, served on the Board of Directors for the Colorado Chapter of American Marketing and was a former committee man for the Greeley Independence Stampede and was a member the "Old Buckers”. He was also a member of Ducks and Trout Unlimited. Joe is survived by his wife, Betty; daughter, Mary Titmus (Eddie); daughter-in-law, Peri Gore; grandchildren, Sandra Ververs (Keane), Chris Titmus (Kelsey) and Jessica Crandall; seven great grandchildren all of Greeley; and a sister, JoAnn Long (Jerry) of Albuquerque, NM. He was preceded in death by his son, David Clithero; and his parents. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Immanuel Lutheran church, 1865 14th Avenue, Greeley. A reception will follow at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 1800 21st Avenue, Greeley. Memorial contributions may be made in Joe’s name in care of Adamson Funeral Home, 2000 47th Avenue, Greeley, CO 80634.
