She attended Lucy L Flower Vocational High in Chicago and then worked at Sears Roebuck in accounting. She married her husband Jim in 1942. Later she and Jim traveled extensively in the U.S. as well as Spain, Italy, Ireland and England. She began a career at Braille Institute as a volunteer after her oldest child Jim became blind and quickly became a valued employee. She established and operated a number of social/ recreational centers in Southern California which complemented the more academic classes offered by Braille. The centers remain active today. She earned numerous awards for her excellence and dedication. Marie’s greatest love was her family. She enjoyed her extended family including many nieces and nephews, her own children and then her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
