Memorial

Ann Reimer, 85, of Greeley passed away August 14, 2016 in Denver, CO. She was born on February 17, 1931 in Burma to Frederick and Bertha (Bates) Dickason. Ann spent her early years in Burma. During World War II she was evacuated with her family to India. After a time in India, the family came to the USA. After the war when her family returned to Burma, Ann remained in the USA. She majored in History at the College of Wooster in Ohio. Life in Christ became more real for her during her college years. Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship Bible studies played a major part in this. She met Niles, her husband, at Wooster. They were married June 3, 1953. God enriched and blessed their life together and guided them into serving as missionaries sent to the Anywaa (Anuak) people of western Ethiopia. She was grateful for the part God gave her and Niles in the witness to Jesus Christ there. They were involved in evangelism, church planting, Bible translation, literacy, and teaching that have borne fruit. Ann also found numerous ways to minister to women and children in Ethiopia as well as teaching her own children and raising a family with creativity and love. Ann’s favorite hobby was reading. She read widely, but mostly enjoyed times of reading to her children and her grandchildren. In recent years, when Niles’ eyesight became limited, she often laid aside a book she was reading, to read to him. She loved spending time with her family and stayed closely connected with her children even when separated due to working overseas. She was also close to her husband and a vital support to him. Ann’s church home in Ethiopia was the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus (Dwelling place of Jesus). In Greeley, for many years her church home has been the Cornerstone Community Church (formerly the First Presbyterian Church). In recent years she and Niles have also thankful for their close tie with the First Presbyterian Church of LaSalle. They have been grateful for oneness in Christ with brothers and sisters with whom they share common commitment to Jesus Christ. Ann was a gentle person who demonstrated the love of Jesus by the way she accepted people and cared for them. Her sense of humor and her deep interest in people and their welfare made her life a joy to those around her. Ann is survived by her husband, Niles of Greeley; son, Mark (Marcie) Reimer; daughters, Martha (Craig) Allan, and Becky (Rollie) Trapp; grandchildren, Luke, Joel (Lexi), and Melanie Reimer; Katie and Mark Allan; Ben, Jake, and Ellen Trapp; brother, David (Lowey) Dickason; sister, Lois Young; and sister-in-law, Mary Jane Washburn. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Jean Dickason; and daughter, Beth who died at age 8 in Ethiopia. A celebration of Ann’s life will be held at a later date at Cornerstone Community Church, 1321 9th Avenue, Greeley, CO 80631. To leave condolences for Ann’s family visit adamsonchapels.com
