Harry Asmus, 92, of Greeley, CO went home to be with the Lord on September 27, 2016. He was born in Fort Morgan, Colorado on July 10, 1924, the youngest son of Jacob and Marie Asmus. Harry graduated from Hillrose High School in Hillrose, Colorado and proudly served his country in the US Army Corp of Engineers from 1944-1946. Harry left the Army at the rank of Staff Sergeant. He married Betty Hoffman on September 10, 1944 in Fort Morgan, Colorado and had a son and daughter. He married Sara (Sally) on December 5, 1972 in Forty Fort, Pennsylvania and had two daughters. He was a successful entrepreneur and was president of Geriatrics Inc., Northeast Home Healthcare, and Major Medical Supply. Harry loved attending Bethel Baptist church, singing in the choir, getting together with his coffee buddies, traveling and spending time with his family. Those who knew him were better for it. Those who never met him can see him in those he left behind. He was a husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, mentor, trusted advisor, Christian and good friend. He is survived by Sally, his wife of 43 years; his brother Edward Asmus; his children Jeanne Marie Coleman (Douglas) of Loveland, CO, Helen Marie Gabbard (Joe) of Thornton, CO, and Sara Ruth Phillippi (Carsten) of Douglas, WY; grandchildren Jami and David Coleman, Abigail and Isabella Gabbard and Jacob, Gloria and Caleb Phillippi. He is preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Victor, David, Martha, Jacob Jr., Esther and Helen; and his son Mark H. Asmus. Harry’s family would like to express their deepest and sincere appreciation for the love, support and care that was given to them by their friends and TRU Hospice of Northern Colorado. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to TRU Hospice of Northern Colorado or Aims Community College Foundation in care of Adamson Funeral & Cremation Services, 2000 47th Avenue, Greeley, CO 80634.
