Jean-Pierre Divorne April 15, 1920 - March 28, 2007 Age: 86 Residence: Greeley, CO Tribute: Jean-Pierre Divorne was born in Lausanne, Switzerland to Emile and Nelly Marthe (Ravussin) Divorne. Mr. Divorne attended school in Lausanne and then did his apprenticeship to become a chef. After his apprenticeship he was in the Swiss army serving two years in the Avalanche troops who patrolled the Swiss Alps by skis during WWII. Mr. Divorne went to London, England for a year to work and learn English before coming to America in 1953. He came to Ellis Island to begin his life in America. He worked his way across the country and finally ended up in Denver, CO where he met his wife, Ramona Stevens in 1955. they settled in Denver where he was the chef of the Denver Country Club, Cherry Creek Red Slipper and finally at the Denver Club for over 20 years. After that he moved his family to Longmont, CO to open his own restaurant. He resided in Longmont for 25 years. Mr. Divorne then moved to Greeley in 2001. Mr. Divorne loved the mountains more than anything; they brought him peace, serenity and spiritual fulfillment. He had an RV named Betsy and they both knew every back road in Colorado. He loved to fish, hike and hunt for wild timber mushrooms, but best of all at the end of the day, came the campfire and sitting under the stars. Mr. Divorne died Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at North Colorado Medical Center �" Hospice & Palliative Care Unit after a long illness. He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends. Survivors: Daughter and best friend, Pierrette Divorne of Greeley; son, Dan Lawson and wife Diane of Sedalia, CO; brother, Alfred Divorne and wife Christiane of Verbier, Switzerland; one niece; three nephews; three grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and second cousin, Etienne Roch and his wife Elaine of Laguna Niguel, CA. Preceded in death by: Parents; and multiple family members from Switzerland. Services: A Celebration of his life will be held by spreading his ashes in the mountains of North Park when the wildflowers bloom in late June with family and friends attending.
