Pauline Margaret Dennis
June 2nd, 1913 - March 11th, 2009
Pauline Dennis June 2, 1913-March 11, 2009 Pauline Margaret Dennis was born in Hardin, Montana June 2, 1913 to Archie and Hattie (Balgum) Lewis the oldest of 6 children. Pauline lived in the Hardin, Crow Agency and Gerry Owen area until she was 16. At one time she lived just below the Custer Battle Field. She remembered walking the hills and picking up arrowheads and other items that we now know were of historical value. She said they didn’t mean anything to them. At the age of 16 the family moved to Greeley Colorado. She worked at a seed house as well as many other jobs to help support her mother and younger siblings. March 5, 1938 she married Virgil Dennis in Loveland, Colorado. During World War II Pauline and Virgil moved to California and worked in a Ship yard. She covered pipes with Asbestos. After they returned to Colorado they farmed in the Galeton, CO area where she ‘topped’ sugar beets with a ‘beet knife’ and were blessed with one son Darrell Dennis. In 2001 she moved to Holyoke, Colorado to be near him. She was a loving dedicated wife and mother. She loved to work in her yard. She believed you could take a woman out of the country but you can’t take the country out of the woman. Pauline spent her life caring for her home and her family. She cared for her sisters and their families when ever she was needed. Her home was always open to anyone who came by. There was always food plenty of good food and a welcome smile. She loved and dedicated her life to her son Darrell and loved her Daughter in Law Lela as a daughter. Her greatest joy in life was her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. In her last years they were what she lived for, looking forward to every opportunity to be with them. When she wasn’t with them she spent her time remembering the things they had said and done the last time she saw them. Pauline died at her home in Cheyenne, WY. Wednesday March 11, 2209 She was preceded in death by husband Virgil, parents Archie and Hattie Lewis, sisters Georgia Stuman, Virginia Vosika, Loraine Epstein, and Maxine Lewis and brother Lloyd Lewis. She is survived by her son Darrell and daughter-in-law Lela of Lingle, Wyoming. Grandchildren Brenda Dennis, Paula and husband Rocky Vaughn, Shawn and wife Veronica Dennis, Rob and wife Crystal Humble; Great Grandchildren Cody and Makenzie Vaughn; Kaitlynn Birkle, Thomas Ballard, Melody Dennis; Christian, Noah and Abigail Humble. A visitation will be 2:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday at the Adamson Chapel. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Adamson Chapel with interment at Evans Cemetery, Highway 34 & 11th Avenue.
