Eugene Knight Kirkpatrick, 81, of Johnstown Colorado, formerly of Modesto and Sonora, CA passed away on December 26, 2016 at 12:35 pm, peacefully in his sleep. Eugene was born in Denver, Colorado on April 4, 1935 to Arthur E. and Dorothy Mae (Bevens) Kirkpatrick. Eugene married Beverly Churchill and they celebrated 54 years. Together, they were the true meaning of "death till us part”. They rallied through the good and the bad, honored their promise to each other and to God. Eugene worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator in the construction field most of his life. He had a level eye and a strong opinion of pride. If you spent much time with Eugene, the words "shut the damn door or do it right the first time" would ring in your ears. Eugene never said goodbye, he thought it best to say, "see you later”. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Kirkpatrick; children, Ronnie Kirkpatrick and Kelly Rivera; grandchildren, Anthony Kirkpatrick-Rivera and Mathew Rivera all of Johnstown, CO; brother, Marvin (Elaine) Kirkpatrick of Nevada; sisters-in-law, Carol Churchill of California, Jo (Harry) Price of Arkansas, and many nieces and nephews that loved their Uncle Gene as well as other family and friends. Eugene is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Eldred and Bob Kirkpatrick; sisters, Eunice Bye, Melvina "Minnie” (Bud) Halstead, and Dorothy (Gene) Durnall, brother-in-law, Dennis Churchill, Nephew Bobbie Kirkpatrick, all of who will be so happy to see him again - party in Heaven! Dearest Mr. Eugene Kirkpatrick, Husband, Dad, Papa, Daddy, Gpa, Grandpa, you truly will be missed. You are loved yesterday, today and tomorrow and for always. We will remember you. Services held will be held in the spring of 2017. Eugene will be laid to rest with his parents at Lakewood Memorial Cemetery in Hughson, California. Immediately following services, there will be a celebration of life and a family reunion in Oakdale, California. Contact the family for details. The family of Eugene Kirkpatrick wishes to thank all that helped to facilitate comfort in Eugene’s last hours. A special thanks to Halcyon Hospice and their professionalism.
