Ray G. Muir
January 26th, 1934 - January 6th, 2017
Ray Muir, 82, of Gilcrest, CO went to be with the Lord on January 6, 2017, with his wife Barbara at his side. He was born along with his twin brother Roy, to the late Harold and Freda Muir, in Phillips County, KS. He graduated from Brush High School in 1952. From 1953 to 1955 he served in the U.S. Army, Infantry. He was a Bricklayer by trade and owned his own masonry company with his twin brother for a number of years. He was married to Karen Adams for 10 years, she past away in 1992 and he was married to Alice Mercer for 29 years, she past away in 1998. Ray and Barbara were married in 2000. He was a loving, caring, gentle, kind soul. He enjoyed watching sports, especially his favorite team, the Denver Broncos. He enjoyed all sports, dancing, shuffleboard, horseshoes and golf, spending time with family and travel with his wife, Barb. Early in his life he enjoyed hunting and camping with his brothers, family and friends. Later in life he loved the simple things: watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren’s sporting events; playing dominos and cribbage; and seeing and talking with family and friends. Ray will be greatly missed by many. Ray is survived by his wife, Barbara Muir; twin brother, Roy Muir; and children, Connie Zauner, Sam Muir; Matt, Patrick and Ty Mercer, Rod and Ron Muir, Barb Hofer, Bill Cooke and Melinda Schminke, as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his sisters, Leta Pickett and Mildred Christensen; brother, Cecil Muir; ex-wife, Karen Adams; and wife, Alice Mercer Muir: A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at the Gilcrest Baptist Church, 802 Birch Street in Gilcrest at 11:00 AM. Memorial contributions may be made to "Gilcrest Baptist Church” in care of Adamson Funeral and Cremation, 2000 47th Avenue, Greeley, CO 80634.
