Gregory William Brown
August 11th, 1948 - February 10th, 2017
Gregory William Brown, 68, of Johnstown passed away on Friday, February 10, 2017 as the result of a farming accident. He was born August 11, 1948 in Fort Collins, CO to Robert Irving and Louise (Reel) Brown. Greg was raised on the family farm in Johnstown and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1966. He then attended Colorado State University for two years before enlisting in the Air National Guard in 1968, serving seven years. He then completed his bachelors of business at Adams State College in 1972 and worked for Empire Savings and Loan in Denver for one year. . Greg met Dianne K. Miller on "dizzy block” in Greeley and they were married on May 23, 1973 at the Platteville United Methodist Church. They made their home on the Brown family farm where Greg made his living "playing in the dirt”. He retired in 2000, moving into town and was always helping friends and neighbors with their farming operations. Greg loved to fish, be in the outdoors, ride his Harleys and driving his pickup around town. The greatest joy were his grandchildren; spending time with each and every one of them and going to their activities. Volunteering his time was important in Greg’s life, serving on a number of ditch boards, delivering Meals on Wheels, and being generous with time and money to others who were in need. He was a member of the Johnstown VFW Post 2585 and attended Timberline Church since 2000. Survivors include his wife, Dianne of Johnstown; children, Adrienne (Charlie) Aguilar of Greeley, Tyler (Kelly) Brown and Sarah (Tim) Frank all of Johnstown; seven grandchildren, Brayden and Maya Aguilar, Sydney, Remington and Josie Brown, Laila and Lillian Frank; sisters, Judy (John) Sitzman of Denver and Debra (Tom) McCoy of California as well as nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Douglas and his mother-in-law, Dorothy Miller. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 17 at Grace Community Church, 2033 W. South 1st Street, Johnstown with reception to follow. Private inurnment at the Johnstown Cemetery at a later date. Memorial gifts may be made to the "Brown Family Agriculture Scholarship” at Roosevelt High School in care of Adamson Cares, 2000 47th Avenue, Greeley, CO 80634.
