Alice Carolie Reinheimer Hoffner was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming to Galen Dean and Gift Ellen (Oldenburg) Reinheimer of Carr, Colorado. She passed away at her home in Greeley on Wednesday, April 12th, 2017. Shortly after going home to Carr, Alice moved to Collyer, Kansas where she attended school in Quinter, Kansas until her sophomore year when the family moved to Gill, Colorado. She was active in school activities until she graduated from Gill High School in 1952. After graduation, Alice attended secretarial school in Denver and then moved to Marion, Indiana after marrying Kenneth D Hoffner of Gill (later divorced) where she began her secretarial career at Indiana State Bank. After giving birth to her first son, she moved back to northern Colorado and began working for a local law firm in Greeley. After giving birth to two more sons she continued her secretarial career at Colorado State College, now the University of Northern Colorado. She retired with 25 years of service. Alice was very active in organizations, serving on boards and as an officer in organizations such as National Secretaries Association, SPEEC, CAPE, and two HOA’s. Alice enjoyed and pursued as many physical activities as her health would permit including daily regiments at the Conditioning Spa, and walks through the Glenmere and Petrikan hill neighborhoods. She enjoyed talking with the residents in the neighborhood, and especially meeting and befriending the many pets in the neighborhood, especially the pooches! She knew each of them by name and they all looked forward to her daily visits. Her favorite activity was being Mom and her all time favorite activity was being "Cookie Grandma” to her only grandchild. Alice was always kidded about her size from family members especially her brothers and her sons. Truth be known, she was incredibly strong surviving Lupus, Fibromyalgia, heart surgery, and many other ailments demonstrating that dynamite really does come in small packages. She is survived by her sons; Kevin Hoffner (Roxanne) of Casper, Wyo, Grant Hoffner of Greeley; brother, Quentin Reinheimer (Jane) of Effingham, Ill, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Dicky and Roger Reinheimer; sisters, Fran Wood and Jeanine Seilbach; son Jeffrey Hoffner; and granddaughter Lindsay Hoffner. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 21, 2017 at the Adamson Chapel with a reception to follow. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lupus Foundation of America, Inc., Kansas Chapter in care of Adamson Cares, 2000 47th Ave., Greeley, CO 80634. Friends may leave condolences at adamsoncares.com.
