Raymond Ward Dimmitt

Ray Dimmitt August 23, 1926 - June 22, 2007 Age: 80 Residence: Greeley, CO Tribute: Raymond Ward Dimmitt was born in Loveland, CO to Arthur and Florine (Zumwalt) Dimmitt. He served in the Navy during WW II from July 22, 1944 to June 3, 1946, on the USS Duxbury Bay. After returning from the Navy, Mr. Dimmitt worked as a tree trimmer and at a furniture store before going to work at Great Western Sugar Company. He was a sugar boiler and retired from Great Western as a sugar informant. On October 4, 1967 he married Beverly Meineke in Cheyenne, WY. They had three children. They were later divorced. Mr. Dimmitt enjoyed spending his free time outdoors, mowing lawns and tree trimming, and working in his flower garden. He was always outside. He met his friend Roberta Hermansen when she asked him to take care of her yard. They spent eleven years together and traveled to New Zealand, New York, Arizona and many trips to Las Vegas. Mrs. Hermansen passed away on May 17, 2006. Mr. Dimmitt was an avid Denver Broncos and New York Yankees fan. He enjoyed having lunch at Western Sizzlin and talking with his favorite waitress, Irene. Mr. Dimmitt will be remembered for his smile, his sense of humor, positive attitude, and determination and feeding of the squirrels and birds every day. He will be missed by his cats, Tom and Buddy. Survivors: His daughters, Kristie Dimmitt and Karen Dimmitt both of Evans, CO; son Kevin Dimmitt and wife Debra of Loveland; nephew, Donald Mitchell and wife Cheryl of Greeley; and a great nephew and great niece and their families. He will be missed by many special friends including, Tony and Maria Schmitz and their children, Alvin, Tanya, and Breanna, whom he thought of as his adopted grandchildren; and Lori Story, Fred Gallegos, Debbie Nurse, and Skip Piel. Preceded in death by: Parents; brother, Donald Dimmitt; sister, Ruth Mitchell; his ex-wife, Beverly and dear friend, Roberta Hermansen. Visitation: 5-8p.m. Tuesday at Adamson Downtown Chapel. Services: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Adamson Downtown Chapel.
