Harold Raymond Snider
October 19th, 1920 - June 24th, 2007
Harold R. Snider was born and raised in the small farming community of Bird City, Kansas to William and Bertha (Elliot) Snider. On August 8, 1945 married Veronica Streit. They were married for 61 years and had seven children. Mr. Snider served in the U.S. Army during WW II in Texas, Camp White City, Oregon and in Saipan. Once his military service was completed, he and his wife moved to Tipton, Kansas where he farmed and worked in the community. He was heavily involved in soil conservation and received several awards for his work in this area. He was also associated with the Farmer’s Union Insurance Companies for nearly forty years during which time he built a reputation of honesty and excellent service to his clients. While in Tipton he was instrumental in the building of St. Boniface Catholic Church. Mr. Snider moved to Greeley in 1961 and continued his association as an agent with Farmers Union Insurance Company, retiring in April of 1990. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Greeley and spent many of his evenings listening to Gospel music. He was an avid fan of sports including, baseball, football, and basketball. As a member of the Greeley Elks Club he enjoyed playing snooker with friends. Mr. Snider also enjoyed working outside growing flowers. His roses were especially beautiful. He also enjoyed working with wood and spent countless hours making pictures using several types of wood and also built the frames for these intricate pieces of art. Above all Mr. Snider loved and cared for his family. He died Sunday, June 24, 2007 at his residence in Greeley with his family at his side. Survivors: His wife, Veronica Snider of Greeley; two daughters, Sharon Benson and Elena Snider both of Greeley; three sons, Conrad Snider of Denver, Gary Snider and Patrick Snider both of Greeley; a grandson, Jeremy Benson of Greeley; and a brother, Merle Snider of Atwood, Kansas. Preceded in death by: His parents; son, Kevin Snider; daughter Mary Kay Snider; and a sister, Margie Underwood. Services10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 28, 2007 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Greeley. Visitation One hour prior to the service at St. Peter Catholic Church. Interment St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery in Tipton, Kansas Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of Adamson Funeral & Cremation Services in care of 2000 47th Ave. Greeley, CO 80634.
