Seamus P. McNerney
March 17th, 1966 - August 26th, 2017
Seamus Patrick McNerney, 51 a son brother and friend passed on August 26, 2017 at McKee Medical Center Hospice in Loveland, CO. Having battled Diabetes for 48 years he orchestrated his own passing beautifully. He was surrounded by his loving family, his life long friend and his mother Mari-Lynn and he was home here in Colorado. His irony would certainly no be lost on him. Seamus was born on St Patrick’s Day in 1966 to Boston, MA to Dr. Charles R. McNerney and Mari Lynn (McCaddon) McNerney. He was a Greeley resident in his youth and graduated for Greely Central High School. He attended University of Northern Colorado and graduated from Colorado University and earned a master degree in philosophy from prestigious St. Johns University in Santa Fe, MX. Upon graduating he moved to Asheville, NC and eventually procured a job teaching at University of North Carolina. He remained there teaching some 20 years. He was a frequent gust speaker across the country; he often said he "Had spoken in all of the lower 48”. His final presentation was at Colorado State University in 2014, presenting "Hegelian Philosophy and the Death of Art”. He was a classically trained pianist, who will be remembered not only for his performances but also for his knowledge of and passion for classical music. While studying at CU he formed a rock band named "Soft Clock” which received a degree of notoriety and became a local favorite. His teaching style can best be described as intellectual story telling combined with his rapier wit and an actor’s dramatic presentation. He was very popular and respected among students and faculty alike. His relationships with Corey, her two sons Gabe and Sebastian, his ex-wife Ingrid and life long friends Lynn and Cindy ran deep and were very special to him among many others. Love you brother, truly rest in peace Seamus is survived by his mother Mari-Lynn, sister Brenda McGeorge and older brothers Tim, Terry and Sean. He is proceeded in death by his father Dr. Charles R. McNerney who passed on News Year Day in 2013. There will not be a memorial service per his request. Memorial contributions may be made to the "Rocky Mountain Raptors Rescue Program” in care of Adamson, 2000 47th Ave., Greeley, CO 80634. A charity he himself was proud to support.
