James "Jim” Royce Hatch passed away Monday, August 28, 2017 at his home. He was born October 21, 1925 in eastern North Carolina in the town of Simms to Roy E. and Mary (Flowers) Hatch, the second of ten children. After graduation from Brogden High School and at the age of 17, he joined the U.S. Navy in 1943. He served on the submarine USS Hammerhead and saw action in the South Pacific, receiving medals for Victory World War II Asiatic Pacific, 1 Star Phillipine Liberation, 1 Star Submarine Combat and Navy Unit Commendation. Upon his discharge, he attended North Carolina State University and graduated with Honors with a degree in Civil Engineering. During and after college, Jim participated in Little Theater and was a member of an acting fraternity. In 1956, he married Marion Eloise "Beezie” Hill in Tangiers, Spanish Morocco at the American Embassy. They had a son, Robert born in 1957 and a daughter, Jamie Maria born in 1958. Jim worked in civil engineering at overseas locations in Europe and Southeast Asia from 1953 through 1973. He enjoyed golfing, playing Bridge, tennis and swimming. They were members of Trinity Episcopal Church where he served as a Deacon. Survivors include his wife, Beezie; son, Robert (Sue) Hatch and daughter, Jamie (Tim) Pomeroy; two grandchildren, Richard and Melissa Hatch; brothers, George (Elizabeth) and Rex (Faye) and sisters, Joyce Skuce and Elaine Overton. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Mary Davis, Faye Wiggins, Josephine Outlaw, Hilda Roberson and his brother, Horace Hatch. A visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. followed by a Life Celebration Service at 2 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Episcopal Church, 3800 W. 20th Street, Greeley. A reception will follow the service. Inurnment in the Trinity Memorial Gardens at a later date. Memorial gifts may be made to "Weld Food Bank” in care of Adamson Life Celebration Home, 2000 47th Ave., Greeley, CO 80634.
