John D. Beard

John D. Beard, 57, passed away in his home surrounded by family, in Greeley, CO on October 9, 2017. He was born in Broomfield, CO to Robert and Betty La Rue (Baker) Beard. His parents died when he was young and John and his brothers, "The Three Musketeers” were raised by their grandmother Catherine Baker in Greeley. He graduated from Greeley Central High School in 1977 and then attended the University of Colorado Boulder and Metro State University, where he studied electrical engineering. On September 3, 1987 he married Carla Jeanne King in Boulder, CO. Through their shared entrepreneurial spirit, they started and ran multiple businesses including a laser tag arena, a sewing shop, and a candle company. Their latest endeavor together was Car-May LLC in Berthoud, CO, which they owned and operated from 2005 on. John loved to travel, read, shoot with his children, support the Donkeys with his brother, and attend concerts with his wife. He also loved to pull shenanigans or "golf with his friends”. He was always involved, coaching baseball, softball, gymnastics, and "life skills”. He was previously a member of the Freemason organization and was a brother of the Acacia Fraternity at CU Boulder. Throughout his career, he was also invited in to several engineering societies. He is survived by his wife Carla King-Beard, children; Carl Edward King, Elisabeth May Beard, and Zoe La Rue Beard, his brother Ted Beard, his aunt Debbie Lovelady, and his beloved corgi, Maggie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Betty and Robert Beard, his grandmother Catherine Baker, and his brother Robert "Larry” Beard.
