Gloria Kay Wiley
June 13th, 1939 - July 18th, 2009
Gloria Kay (Blecha) Wiley of Greeley, passed away surrounded by family on July 18, 2009 in the Hospice Unit at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley. Gloria was diagnosed in early June with brain cancer. She had recently had her 70th birthday. She was born June 13, 1939 in Salina, Kansas to Virgil and Maxine (Schlansky) Blecha and was raised in Woodston, Kansas where she graduated from high school. In 1961 she received her bachelor’s degree from Ft. Hays Kansas University. Later she took classes and received her language arts credits from Sacred Heart College of Wichita, Kansas. She took several classes at the University of Northern Colorado and Aims Community College. She received her master’s degree from the University of Phoenix. She taught many years and her great love was teaching Middle School, University of Phoenix and Aims Community College. She taught in Norwich and Sylvan Grove, Kansas, Ft. Lupton and Greeley, Colorado. Gloria’s life was teaching. She also loved to travel. In recent years she loved going to the family cabin at Crystal Lakes and San Carlos, Mexico. She had an enormous love of all animals and will be missed by her two dogs and cats. She is survived by her husband Gary Wiley of Greeley; daughter, Monica Wiley and husband Steve Farrell; sons, Timothy and wife Lara Wiley, Zane Wiley and fiancé Hannah Dilley, all of Greeley; granddaughters, Megan and husband Matt Farrell of Denver, Natasha and husband Timmy Asmussen, Jessica and Rebecca Evig, all of Greeley; one great grandchild, Jason Asmussen of Greeley, and two on the way; brother Steve Blecha and wife Judy of Plainville, Kansas; niece and nephew, Nikki and Alan Nisbet of Corpus Christi, Texas, nephew, Spencer Blecha of Plainville, Kansas; cousin Linda and Mike Nebel of Smith Center, Kansas; and a host of friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Virgil and Maxine Blecha, and Aunt Leona Walker. A Celebration of Life service will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at Adamson Chapel. Inurnment at Linn Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care or The Humane Society of Weld County in c/o Adamson Funeral & Cremation Services, 2000 47th Avenue, Greeley, CO 80634.
