George Gantz
May 10th, 1921 - August 21st, 2009
George Gantz, 88, of Ault, Colorado died peacefully at his residence, Friday, August 21, 2009. He was born May 10, 1921 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to George and Charlotte (Borne) Gantz. He was raised on the farm in Scottsbluff and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942. He served during World War II in the Pacific Theater and was honorably discharged in 1946. Mr. Gantz moved to Colorado in 1954 and continued farming in Prospect Valley, Galeton and Ault and in 1967 was able to purchased his own farm north west of Ault. He was a hardworking man who valued the simple things in life. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Gantz of Ault and her children and grandchildren; two sons, David Lee Gantz (Cheryl) of Evans, and Mike Gantz (Sandy) of Eaton, CO; a daughter, Kathy Betz (Don) of Greeley, CO; seven grandchildren, Mathew Whitman, Michael Whitman and Kristin Whitman all of Greeley, Kendal Gantz and Devin Gantz both of Eaton, and David Gantz, Jr. and Kevin Gantz both of Evans; and a grandchild, Rylee Grace Whitman of Greeley. He is also survived by five sisters, Mary Heigel of Boise, ID, Frieda Bender and Leah Aman both of Kennewick, WA, Rachel Meier of Gering, NE, and Haulda Weimer of Morrill, NE. He was preceded in death by his parents; former wife, Anna (Schwab) Gantz; an infant son, George Gantz, Jr. and two brothers, John and Victor Gantz. Friends may visit from 5:00 �" 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at Adamson Chapel, 2000 47th Avenue in Greeley. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, also at Adamson Chapel. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
