Wallace "Wally” James Horihan, 81, of Greeley, CO passed away Friday, February 2, 2018 at Grace Pointe Continuing Care in Greeley. He was born September 17, 1936 to Emmett and Cora (Skauge) Horihan in Spring Grove, MN, the fourth of seven children. Wally graduated from Mabel, MN High School in 1954 and entered the United States Navy the same year serving until 1957. On February 7, 1959 he married his high school sweetheart, Darlene Betsinger at St. Olaf Catholic Church in Mabel, MN. In 1960 he started his 32 year career with IBM in Rochester, MN. In 1965 he transferred to IBM Boulder, CO and continued his career as a polymer engineer. Wally retired from IBM Charlotte, NC in 1992. While living in Longmont, CO he was a coach for Hygiene Little League and a leader for Boy Scout Troop 65 from St. John’s Catholic Church. He missed very few if any sports that his boys were involved in. He loved all sports. Wally was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Greeley. Wally is survived by his wife of 59 years, Darlene Horihan; sons, Devin (Joanne), Daniel, William (Lorri) all of Johnstown, CO and Joel and partner Dianne of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Ryan Bennet of Denver, Hope (Jordan) Lukacena of Asheville, NC, Morgan, Molly, Madison, Trevor and Alyssa all of Johnstown; brother, Paul (Arlene) of Lanesboro, MN sisters, Marcella (Leland) Larson and Charlotte Amdahl both of Arizona; and sister-in-law, Ardis Horihan of Rochester, MN; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Vern and Cyril; and sister, Patricia Topness. A Life Celebration Service will be held 11:00a.m. Monday February 12, 2018 at Adamson Life Celebration Home. Inurnment will take place in Minnesota at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to "Northern Colorado Honor Flight” or "Denver Rescue Mission Harvest Farm” in care of Adamson Life Celebration Home, 2000 47th Avenue, Greeley, CO 80364.
