Lydia M. Weitzel
February 4th, 1925 - February 13th, 2018
Lydia M Weitzel, 93, of Greeley, CO passed away after a sudden illness, February 13, 2018, in the ICU at Medical Center of the Rockies. She was born in Gill, CO, February 4, 1925 of German-Russian immigrant parents, Christ and Katherine (Ehrlich) Heinze. Lydia grew up in Windsor. In 1945 she married LeRoy Weitzel. For the past 53 years, she was a self-employed, self-taught seamstress, designing and creating custom window treatments for several businesses and designers in the Greeley area. At the time of her death, she was actively making window treatments. She is survived by sons, Rich(Carol) Weitzel of Eaton, and Tim Weitzel of Greeley; daughter, Barb Ganz of Greeley; brother, Fred Heinze of Greeley; sister, Betty Roberts, of Aurora, CO; many nieces and nephews; and constant companion, Qurley. Lydia was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers Henry, Edward, and Benjamin Heinze; sister, Paulien Ehrlich; and son-in-law, Ed Ganz. Services will be announced at a later date.
