Darlene J. Specht

Darlene Joann Specht passed away at Centennial Health Care on May 18, 2018. Darlene was born on December 10, 1934 to Henry and Eva Becker in Ft. Collins, CO. She attended school in Ft. Collins and graduated from Ft. Collins High School. While working at the candy counter at Woolworth’s, Darlene met her future husband, Richard who worked there as a stock boy. They were married one year later on January 30, 1954 and lived in Ft. Collins. Their son Michael was born January 9, 1957. The family moved to Greeley in 1959 when Richard received a job there. Her second son Rick was born February 5, 1961. Darlene worked as a kitchen manager for Carlson’s Hut for several years. She also had her own restaurant at the Post and Pike. Darlene retired from managing the kitchen at The Eaton Country Club in 1992. Darlene enjoyed spending time with her family after retirement. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her grandson Tyler. Darlene lost her husband Richard July 30, 2015 after 61 years of marriage. Darlene is survived by her sons, Michael (Ann) of Cheyenne , WY and Rick (Suzanne) of LaSalle, CO; five grandchildren, Melissa (Ed)Kelly of Virginia Beach, VA, Rebecca Specht of Cheyenne , WY, Jessica (David) Weir of Zushi, Kanagwa, Japan, Chad (Melissa) Specht of Voluntown, CT, and Tyler Specht of LaSalle, CO; three great grandchildren, Cody and Cheyann Weir and Harper Kelly. Private memorial service will be held at a later date.
