Dorothy Lorraine McDermed
August 2nd, 1924 - November 15th, 2009
Dorothy (Rhoades) McDermed was born in Gowanda, Colorado as one of sixteen children to Leslie and Artie (Lane) Rhoades. She graduated from Platteville High School in 1942. On July 17th, 1949 she married Gail McDermed in Platteville. She and her husband lived and farmed east of Platteville. Shortly after her husband's death in 1980, she moved to Greeley. She was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, sewing, croqueting, playing bingo, and watching her grandchildren play sports. Survivors are two daughters, Louise Berry and husband Larry, LaRue Martinez and husband Art all of Greeley; six grandchildren, Kelly, Kristi, Kaycee, and Karly Berry, Marcy Martinez and Gayle Cervantes and husband James all of Greeley; a great-grandchild Reyna. Sister, Kathie Earl of St. Libory, Neb; two brothers, Carrol Rhoades and wife Ruth of Fort Lupton and Orville Rhoades of Apache Junction, Ariz. She is preceded in death by her husband, Gail McDermed; her parents, Leslie and Artie Rhoades; her six sisters, Maizie Freeling, Frances Acord, Pansy Grott, Patty Bohlender, Caroline Swindell, and Helen Hergenreter; and her six brothers, Perry Rhoades, Leland Rhoades, William Rhoades, Robert Rhoades, Thomas Rhoades, and Oland Rhoades A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, November 19th, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Adamson Chapel. Private family inurnment. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Northern Colorado in care of Adamson Funeral & Cremation Services, 2000 47th Avenue, Greeley.
