Doris LaVerne Smith, 78, of Hudson, CO passed away at home on August 24, 2018. She was born on May 21, 1940 in Austin, TX to Alfred and Merle (Bell) Johnson. Doris grew up in the Austin area. On February 14, 1988 in Albuquerque, NM she married John Smith. Doris was a loan officer for Crossland Mortgage and United Capitol for a total of 30 years. She liked to garden and loved her grandkids, especially, shopping for them at every opportunity. Doris is survived by her husband, John of Hudson; children, Jeffery Horton of Denver, CO, Stacy Horton of Loveland, CO, Stephanie (Fred) Soder of Lafayette, CO, and Craig (Angela) Horton of Fort Collins, CO, Russell (Dionne) Smith of Greeley, CO, Charlotte (Doug) Moe of Denver, Michael (Jessica) Smith of Aurora, CO, and Jayne (Bill) Perry of Charleston, IN; grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Justin), Brandon (Amber), Madison, Merrell (Nathan), Emily, Connor, Ian, Chloe, Olivia, and Tevin. She was preceded in death by Oleta Bell, who raised her. She was also preceded in death by her parents. A Life Celebration will be on Friday, August 31, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Adamson Life Celebration Home. Interment will be in Linn Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to "Wednesday’s Child” in care of Adamson Life Celebration Home, 2000 47th Avenue, Greeley, CO 80634.
