Herta Hillmann
April 27th, 1925 - November 8th, 2018
Herta Hillman, 93, of Greeley, passed away on November 8, 2018 at home in Greeley, Colorado. She was born to Fritz and Elise (Knipping) Richter on April 27, 1925 in Brebber, Germany. Herta met her husband, Henry at a New Year’s Eve dance in 1948. They were married two years later and sailed to America where Henry had lived for twenty years and attained his citizenship. Herta loved quilting, sewing and needlework. For many years she was part of the Our Savior’s quilting group. She delighted in cooking and baking for people and was an amazing cook. She will be remembered for her amazing Sunday dinners and afternoon cakes and coffee. Later that day she would bribe her grandkids to stay longer with homemade chocolate chip cookies and ice cream cones. She loved cooking for the helpers at Habitat for Humanity, her favorite charity. She enjoyed gardening and had a well-kept yard. Every fall was spent canning and freezing wonderful produce from her garden. She also had a special place in her heart for cats and dogs.
