Jane Herbst
April 25th, 1932 - November 21st, 2018
Our loving, kind, and gentle mother, Jane Ann Herbst, passed away November 21, 2018 at her daughter’s home surrounded by family. Jane was born on April 25, 1932 to Louis P. Baechler and Rose "Pearl” Baechler (Repinsky). She was the second to the youngest child out of 4 girls and 2 boys. She spent her early childhood in an orphanage in Denver due to her mother’s ill health. Later she moved to Wellington on her dad’s farm. Jane lived her entire life of 86 years in Northern Colorado, with 66 years in Greeley. Jane got married at a young age to Douglas Dorsey in 1948 and had a daughter, Linda and a son, Duane, they later divorced. On May 9, 1953, Jane married William Herbst and he adopted her son Duane and changed his name to John Herbst. They had 2 daughters, Betty and Jeannie. Jane worked at Fairacres Manor for 14 years as a cook’s helper and at Birch Avenue and Kenton Manor as a dietary assistant. She also volunteered for Hospice of Northern Colorado and Cancer Mount. She was a member of the Toast Mistress Group. Jane taught Sunday School for many years at Sunny View Church of the Nazarene and started a class for developmentally disabled clients. Jane lived at University Plaza Apartments for 23 years and hosted numerous Bingo and coffee get together. She would always lend a helping hand to her neighbors in need. Jane loved Plastic Canvas Needlepoint, Macrame and especially taking care of her great grandchildren. She is survived by her son, John (Cindy) Herbst of Florence, Oregon and 2 daughters, Betty Bell and Jeannie Herbst of Greeley, Colorado. Jane had 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 11 great great grandchildren. She also had numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Jane was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Dorsey; husband, William Herbst; Son-in-law, Patrick Bell; her parents; 3 sisters and 2 brothers. Jane Ann was spiritual her entire life and was a current member of Grace Reformed Church in Greeley. Jane is missed and loved by all who knew her but is at peace with her Lord and Savior. Life Celebration Service will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, at Grace Reformed Church, 1501 10th Avenue, Greeley. To leave condolences for Jane’s family, please visit, www.adamsoncares.com
